Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Data released today by the China Electricity Council shows that in 2025, China's newly added power generation capacity reached 550 million kilowatts, of which wind and solar power accounted for 440 million kilowatts, representing 80.2% of the total new installed capacity. Statistics show that wind, solar, and biomass power generation currently accounts for 97.1% of the total new electricity consumption, becoming the main source of new electricity consumption. my country's green electricity supply capacity continues to strengthen, and the pace of green and low-carbon transformation of energy and power is accelerating.

Investment in my country's power grid construction increased by 5.1% in 2025

According to the China Electricity Council, the total investment in national power grid construction reached 639.5 billion yuan in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. In recent years, the construction of large-scale wind and solar power bases has driven rapid growth in investment in ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission projects. In 2025, investment in DC projects increased by 25.7% year-on-year, while investment in AC projects increased by 4.7% year-on-year. In 2025, the length of 220 kV and above transmission lines increased by 47,529 kilometers nationwide, 13,814 kilometers more than the previous year.

Furthermore, inter-regional and inter-provincial power transmission grew rapidly. In 2025, the national inter-regional power transmission reached 998.4 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%; inter-provincial power transmission reached 2,123.7 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. The net power output of five provinces—Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Shanxi, Xinjiang, and Sichuan—exceeded 100 billion kWh.

In 2026, solar power generation capacity will surpass coal-fired power generation capacity for the first time.

The China Electricity Council predicts that in 2026, solar power generation capacity will surpass coal-fired power generation capacity for the first time, and by the end of the year, wind and solar power generation combined will account for half of the total installed power generation capacity.
