
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of January 26, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Lao Minister of Agriculture and Environment Limkham Tuansavan. The two sides held in-depth discussions on further consolidating cooperation in agriculture, environment, and trade.
Minister Limkham Tuansavan expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception from the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, noting that it fully demonstrates Cambodia's high regard for the traditional friendship between Cambodia and Laos. He reviewed the significant progress made in bilateral relations over the 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, emphasizing that this visit aimed to jointly celebrate this historic milestone and further develop the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the talks, Minister Limkham Tuansavan outlined the two core topics of his visit: actively promoting the implementation of existing cooperation agreements in agricultural production, livestock farming, and forest resource protection; and exploring ways to deepen cross-border trade cooperation and jointly establish and optimize efficient pathways for Cambodian agricultural products to be transshipped through Laos to third-country markets.
Minister Lim Kham Tuan Savan pledged that Laos would fully support the aforementioned cooperation efforts to achieve fruitful results as soon as possible, and expressed its willingness to expand cooperation with Cambodia in environmental governance and agricultural technology, building a more robust collaborative mechanism.
Prime Minister Hun Manet warmly welcomed Minister Lim Kham Tuan Savan and his delegation on this important occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and expressed his satisfaction with the positive momentum of cooperation in various fields.
Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that agriculture is a priority area for the Cambodian government's "Pentagon Strategy" and is crucial for ensuring national food security. He noted that Cambodia and Laos are geographically connected and share similar national conditions, possessing enormous potential for cooperation across the entire agricultural value chain. He stressed that strengthened cooperation in agriculture should be integrated with existing cooperation frameworks in security, defense, energy, and trade.
Prime Minister Hun Manet specifically urged the agricultural departments of both countries to expedite coordination and implement the cooperation process for Cambodian agricultural products transshipped through Laos to third countries as soon as possible. He firmly believes that the implementation of this cooperation agreement will create substantial economic benefits for the people of both countries, achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.
