Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Starting June 1, 2026, Vietnam will officially launch biofuel gasoline nationwide, with E5 RON 92 and E10 RON 95 as the circulating grades. This is a significant measure taken by the Vietnamese government and its ministries after years of preparation, following a predetermined roadmap.

This information was confirmed at the 2025 Petroleum Product Management and Supply Work Summary and 2026 Plan Deployment Conference held in Hanoi, hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The relevant authorities stated that the legal framework, technical infrastructure, and business consensus related to the transition are basically in place, ensuring the stable, safe, and efficient operation of the market.

This promotion of biofuel gasoline is based on Notification No. 50/2025/TT-BCT issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on November 7, 2025. This notification clarifies the roadmap for blending biofuels with traditional fuels, further implementing the Vietnamese government's biofuel development strategy established in 2012, and aligning with the direction of green growth and sustainable development.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the conditions for the introduction of E10 gasoline are now largely complete. The Ministry has collaborated closely with relevant ministries and leading oil companies on licensing, technical oversight, and supply preparation. Companies such as Petrolimex and PVOIL have completed most of the technical preparations and can implement the transition on schedule.

It is understood that the use of biofuel gasoline has significant environmental benefits. Calculations show that reducing gasoline consumption by 1 million tons can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 2.5 million tons; it can also promote domestic production, increase employment, and contribute to socio-economic growth.

Going forward, various ministries will continue to improve standards and technical specifications for petroleum product operations and strengthen oversight to maintain market order and protect consumer rights. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is also refining regulations related to petroleum product operations and penalties, building a unified and comprehensive legal framework for the transition. The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that this transition is expected to proceed smoothly, providing support for Vietnam's commitments to environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and energy security.
