Among these initiatives, two benchmark high-speed trains will operate between Yinchuan and Beijing North, reducing the fastest travel time between the two cities to 6 hours and 22 minutes, a reduction of 1 hour and 14 minutes compared to the existing routes (via the Yinchuan-Lanzhou, Yinchuan-Xi'an, Xuzhou-Lanzhou, and Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railways). In western Inner Mongolia, 32 new high-speed trains will be added to routes to Qinghe, Taiyuan South, Xi'an North, Lanzhou West, and Xining, with the fastest travel times from Hohhot to Yinchuan, Lanzhou West, and Xining reaching 3 hours and 34 minutes, 6 hours and 27 minutes, and 7 hours and 45 minutes, respectively. Two benchmark high-speed trains will also operate between Wuhai and Qinghe, reducing the fastest travel times from Wuhai and Bayannur to Beijing to 5 hours and 7 minutes and 4 hours and 20 minutes, respectively, a reduction of 10 hours and 35 minutes and 8 hours and 31 minutes compared to existing conventional trains. This further strengthens the connection between Northwest China and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
With the newly opened Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed railway, Yan'an will have 22 additional high-speed trains to destinations including Beijing West, Shanghai Hongqiao, Guangzhou, and Chengdu East. This marks the first time high-speed rail service has been established between Yan'an and Beijing West, with the fastest journey taking 5 hours and 42 minutes, a reduction of 4 hours and 37 minutes compared to the existing route (via Baoxi, Taizhong, Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan Passenger Dedicated Line, and Beijing-Guangzhou Railway), facilitating travel to the revolutionary holy site.
Following the newly opened Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu Yangtze River High-Speed Railway, the train schedule in the central region of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has been optimized and upgraded: Yichang North will have 16 additional high-speed trains to destinations including Beijing West, Shanghai Hongqiao, Tianjin West, Jinan East, Hangzhou West, and Shenzhen North; Xiangyang East will have 2 originating and terminating high-speed trains each to Guangzhou South and Shenzhen (via Xiangjing High-Speed Railway, Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu Yangtze River High-Speed Railway, and Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway); and Xiangyang East and Yichang East will each have 2 loop high-speed trains, further improving external communication channels for western Hubei.
In addition, the newly opened Nanning-Pingxiang high-speed railway will operate 10 EMU trains between Pingxiang and Nanning East, Beihai, Guilin North, and other destinations; the newly opened Panzhou-Xingyi high-speed railway will operate 30 EMU trains connecting Xingyi South with Kunming South, Libo, Guiyang North, and other destinations, significantly improving the high-speed rail transport capacity in southwestern Guangxi and northwestern Guizhou. Regarding conventional trains, two new conventional trains have been added between Urumqi and Longxi, and between Chongqing West and Hohhot/Kashgar, as well as two new overnight tourist trains between Xi'an and Yichang East, enriching travel options for passengers.
Direct Connections Between Eastern and Western Guangdong and Guangzhou/Shenzhen Enhance Cross-Border Travel
With the newly opened Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway and the Shantou-Shantou South section of the Ningbo-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, connections between eastern and western Guangdong and the core areas of Guangzhou and Shenzhen have been significantly strengthened: 100, 10, and 10 high-speed trains will run from Zhanjiang North to Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen, and Shantou respectively; 6 and 12 high-speed trains will run from Shantou to Hong Kong West Kowloon and from Fuzhou South to Guangzhou East (Xintang) respectively. The fastest journey time from Shantou to Guangzhou Xintang is 1 hour and 26 minutes, and from Zhanjiang North to Guangzhou Baiyun is 1 hour and 32 minutes, integrating eastern and western Guangdong into the Guangzhou-Shenzhen "1.5-hour transportation circle."
Cross-border train services have been optimized: High-speed sleeper trains between Hong Kong West Kowloon and Shanghai Hongqiao will operate daily from Friday to Monday, with two additional trains added daily from Tuesday to Thursday, ensuring daily overnight high-speed sleeper service between Shanghai and Hong Kong. Two new high-speed trains will also run between Hong Kong West Kowloon and Shanghai Hongqiao, stopping at stations such as Nanjing South and Hefei South. After this timetable adjustment, the number of stations in Hong Kong connecting to the mainland will exceed 100, further promoting personnel exchanges and economic and trade cooperation within and outside Hong Kong.
Optimized Operations in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, Yangtze River Delta, and Northeast China to Meet Commuting and Economic Development Needs
In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region: Four new high-speed trains will run between Beijing West and Tianjin West, stopping at stations such as Baoding East, Baiyangdian, and Daxing Airport. The schedules of four high-speed trains running between Xiong'an New Area and Beijing during peak hours have been optimized. Commuter trains will add 15 stops at stations such as Yanjiao, Shunyi West, Huairou South, and Langfang, precisely matching the travel needs of commuters heading to and around Beijing.
In the Yangtze River Delta region: Leveraging the newly opened Hefei-Xinyi high-speed railway (Hefei-Sixian section), two direct high-speed trains will operate between Hankou and Sixian East; utilizing the newly opened Hefei West Railway Station to optimize hub functions, the operating sections or routes of 16 high-speed trains will be adjusted (including Hangzhou East to Zhengzhou East and Xinxiang East to Chaoshan); relying on the newly opened Hangzhou-Quzhou high-speed railway, 20 direct high-speed trains will operate (including Wuhan to Hangzhou West and Wuyuan to Shanghai Hongqiao), further strengthening connections between various regions and the core area of the Yangtze River Delta.
Northeast China: Four new G-series high-speed trains will run between Changbai Mountain and Beijing Chaoyang, and two new K-series regular trains will run between Jagdaqi and Tianjin and between Hailar and Hohhot, improving passenger transport capacity in and out of the region. Yabuli West and Hengdaohezi East stations will have 14 and 5 new stops respectively for high-speed trains, facilitating travel to ski resorts and supporting the development of the ice and snow economy. Sixteen regular trains on the Jining-Tongliao railway will be converted to electric locomotives, reducing the average travel time by 1 hour and 20 minutes.
