
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of January 7th, the Statistics Department of the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam launched the 2026 Economic Census nationwide.
Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of the Statistics Department, stated that the 2026 Economic Census is being conducted against the backdrop of the country's vigorous promotion of digital transformation, growth model transformation, and enhancement of economic competitiveness. The demand for high-quality data categorized by industry, region, and ownership type is increasingly important, directly serving the government, ministries, industries, and localities in formulating socio-economic development policies.
The Statistics Department stated that the economic census is one of the three major strategic large-scale statistical surveys of the country and is of great significance for improving the national economic information system. The 2026 Economic Census aims to comprehensively and objectively collect complete information on the operational status of various economic entities nationwide, including enterprises, public institutions, associations, religious venues, and self-employed individuals.
The information collection period for enterprises is as follows: For enterprises in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, April 1 to August 31, 2026; for provinces and cities with more than 5,000 enterprises, April 1 to June 30, 2026; for other provinces and cities, April 1 to May 31, 2026; and for groups and corporations, June 1 to July 15, 2026.
Information collection for non-public institutions; associations and societies; enterprise branches and representative offices; and foreign non-governmental organizations authorized to operate in Vietnam will be conducted from April 1 to June 30, 2026.
Information collection for production and business units under administrative agencies and public institutions will be conducted from July 1 to July 31, 2026. Information collection for individual producers and business operators, cooperative groups, and religious and places of belief will be conducted from January 5 to March 31, 2026.
This census has several noteworthy new features, such as: strengthening the application of information technology in information collection; vigorously promoting the development and utilization of administrative data; simultaneously implementing CAPI electronic questionnaires and Webform online form collection methods; and improving the efficiency of survey management, aiming to build a modern, transparent, and internationally integrated statistical system.
