Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – At a press conference held on the 29th, the Tibet Autonomous Region government announced that, as of now, the coverage rate of the rural postal and logistics network and the rate of motorized postal routes in Tibet have reached 100%. Since the beginning of this year, the number of express parcels delivered to villages through "postal-express cooperation" (postal and express companies) has exceeded 6 million, reaching 2.5 times the number in 2024.
Laba, Director of the Market Supervision Department (Policy and Regulations Department) of the Tibet Autonomous Region Postal Administration, introduced that, to date, a total of 1,324 postal and express delivery outlets have been built throughout the region, and 2,410 village-level comprehensive postal and logistics service stations have been upgraded, achieving better coverage of postal infrastructure networks and express delivery services, basically realizing "distribution centers in every county, outlets in every township, and services in every village."
Laba said that relying on the postal and express delivery service network, Tibet sells plateau specialty products such as yak meat, Tibetan pork, and apples nationwide. During the post-earthquake reconstruction process following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Dingri this year, the postal and express delivery network was simultaneously extended to rural areas, allowing frontline reconstruction workers and villagers to conveniently receive mail and express parcels. Dawa, Deputy Director of the Transportation Services Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region Transportation Department, stated that as of now, passenger bus services have reached 623 townships and 3,902 administrative villages across the region, achieving coverage rates of 91.8% and 73% respectively. An additional 28 administrative villages are expected to gain access to passenger bus services by 2025. This continuous expansion and extension of the passenger transport network provides alternative transportation capacity and route support for the construction of the rural postal and logistics system.
Su Yinghu, Deputy General Manager of the Marketing Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region Branch of China Post Group Corporation, stated that the company has established a comprehensive agricultural assistance model encompassing rural e-commerce sales, direct supply from production areas, logistics delivery, and inclusive finance in promoting the construction of the rural postal and logistics system. Over the past five years, the company has sold over 230,000 orders of agricultural products, generating sales of 132 million yuan (RMB); and has helped create over 1,300 local jobs for farmers and herders, increasing their annual income by approximately 103 million yuan.
The press conference also introduced that since the beginning of this year, Tibet has introduced a series of policies to address the issue of "free shipping within Tibet." E-commerce platforms such as JD.com, Pinduoduo, Taobao, Tmall, Douyin, and Kuaishou have strengthened their "express delivery westward" services, providing subsidies and reducing overall logistics costs through centralized distribution and shipping, thus benefiting more consumers in Tibet.
