Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 2025 Sichuan Silk Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Silk Expo) opened in Nanchong, Sichuan Province on the 21st. This year's Silk Expo features 270 exhibitors from nine provinces and municipalities including Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Chongqing, as well as six countries including Germany and Italy. Among them, 164 are silkworm and cocoon silk enterprises.
Themed "Silk Charm of Life, Linking the Future," this year's Silk Expo features five pavilions: the China Silk Pavilion, the International Cooperation Pavilion, the Regional Cooperation Pavilion, the Sichuan Specialty Pavilion, and the Nanchong Local Specialty Pavilion. The exhibition area covers 13,000 square meters, comprehensively showcasing the innovative achievements of the national cocoon and silk industry, as well as related products such as handwoven brocade and smart home textiles from various regions.
"Nanchong is China's silk capital and the origin of silk production, boasting over 3,000 years of sericulture history. Silk products have been a tribute to the imperial court since the Zhou Dynasty, making it a crucial source of goods for the Southern Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road," said Zhang Dongyun, Secretary of the Nanchong Municipal Party Committee, in his address. He added that in recent years, Nanchong has focused on building a robust industrial chain, improving quality and efficiency, and integrating key links such as mulberry planting and silkworm rearing, silk reeling and weaving, dyeing and finishing, and garment and home textile production. This has resulted in a systematic construction of a modern cocoon and silk industry ecosystem, forming a complete industrial chain from "a mulberry leaf" and "a cocoon" to "a garment," with its silk and silk quilt production consistently ranking first in the province.

Tang Lin, President of the China Silk Association, stated that silk is a traditional national industry, a historically significant industry, an important industry for people's livelihood, and an industry with international competitive advantages. This Silk Expo, as a major industry event in the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, will use silk as a medium and the exhibition as a bridge to build a platform for exchange and cooperation among domestic and international silk enterprises and create new scenarios for fashionable silk consumption.
Yang Dan, Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Jiusan Society, introduced that as the origin of the Southern Silk Road, Sichuan's silkworm cocoon and raw silk production has long ranked among the top in the country. In 2024, Sichuan's total silkworm cocoon production reached 87,000 tons, and its high-grade raw silk accounted for over 50% of the domestic market share. Exports of silk products increased by 80.2% year-on-year, and regional brands such as "China's Silk Capital," "China's Cocoon and Silk Capital," and "China's Sericulture Town" shine brightly.

At the opening ceremony, a key industry investment promotion and key project signing ceremony was held, with a total of 27 projects signed, amounting to a total investment of 10.525 billion yuan. From November 21st to 23rd, six special fashion shows will be held, showcasing the unique charm of silk clothing in all aspects.
This Silk Expo uses silk as a medium and the exhibition as a bridge, building an important platform for industrial exchange and cooperation and the dissemination of silk culture through multi-dimensional and comprehensive displays and activities. It continuously promotes the upgrading of the cocoon and silk industry and the inheritance of silk culture, allowing the millennium-old silk capital to shine with new contemporary brilliance. (End)
