A relevant official from the United Front Work Department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee attended and delivered a speech.
The meeting emphasized that the new council of the Zhaoqing Overseas Friendship Association should respond to the call of the times, act as builders who share the great cause of the nation and cultivate patriotic sentiments, widely connect and unite people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas, and create a favorable external environment for national development; it should seize development opportunities, act as guides for promoting high-quality development and facilitating two-way opening-up, actively integrate into the major national strategic deployments, and contribute Zhaoqing's strength to Guangdong's creation of new advantages and breakthroughs; it should deepen exchanges and mutual learning, act as spokespersons showcasing a credible, lovable, and respectable image of China, and use overseas Chinese as a bridge to tell the stories of China, Guangdong, and Zhaoqing in the new era, continuously expanding the overseas circle of friends who understand and are friendly towards China.
The first meeting of the 8th Council of the Zhaoqing Overseas Friendship Association reviewed and approved the candidates for the new council leadership. The attending leaders presented certificates to the newly elected president, honorary president, advisors, vice presidents, standing council members, and council representatives.
The meeting also included a signing ceremony for letters of intent to support high-quality development and a presentation on Zhaoqing's investment environment. Representatives of the Zhaoqing Overseas Friendship Association signed letters of intent with representatives from the Hong Kong Chinese Manufacturers' Association, the Macau Zhaoqing Association, the Zhaoqing Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association, the Malaysian Huining General Association, and the Australian Zhaoqing Chamber of Commerce, among others. These agreements aim to further integrate resources from home and abroad, build broader bridges, and jointly write a new chapter in Zhaoqing's high-quality development.
