Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to the Hengqin Border Inspection Station of the Zhuhai Border Inspection General Station, during the first five days of the Spring Festival holiday (February 15-19), over 477,000 people and over 49,000 vehicles passed through the Hengqin Port, representing year-on-year increases of 30.3% and 47.7% respectively. The port's operations were characterized by a robust flow of both people and vehicles, demonstrating the strong vitality of the integrated development of Hengqin and Macau.
"This year, my whole family came to Hengqin for the Spring Festival. We can take the light rail directly to the port from Macau, and the border crossing is very quick," said Ms. Li from Macau, praising the convenient border crossing experience. This Spring Festival, the Hengqin Port saw a significant increase in both passenger and cargo traffic, with a notable rise in inbound travelers from Hong Kong and Macau. The strong festive atmosphere, abundant cultural and tourism consumption options, and convenient transportation network on the mainland attracted a large number of Hong Kong and Macau residents to visit relatives and friends and experience the festive spirit.
Meanwhile, demand for travel to Macau from mainland tourists remains strong, with two-way travel between Hengqin and Macau becoming the mainstream trend for cross-border travel during the Spring Festival. Data shows that in the first five days of the holiday, over 310,000 mainland tourists passed through the Hengqin Port, a year-on-year increase of 24.4%; over 153,000 were Hong Kong and Macau residents, a year-on-year increase of 43.1%, making them the main force behind the passenger flow growth. Gao Yin, instructor of the first duty team at the Hengqin Border Inspection Station, explained: “Macau residents are the fastest-growing group among those crossing the border, with over 130,000 crossing the border in the first five days, a year-on-year increase of 45.3%, accounting for 27.3% of the total passenger flow, an increase of 3 percentage points compared to last year.”
It is understood that passenger flow at the Hengqin Port has remained high during the Spring Festival holiday. As of now, the highest single-day passenger flow occurred on the third day of the Lunar New Year, reaching 127,000. It is predicted that the port will maintain peak passenger flow on the fourth and fifth days of the Lunar New Year. To ensure smooth border crossings, the Hengqin Border Inspection Station planned ahead and implemented precise measures.
Gao Yin, instructor of the First Duty Team at Hengqin Border Inspection Station: We have set up additional information and guidance posts and assistance posts at the port, assigning dedicated personnel to guide passengers to wait for inspection in an orderly manner, and providing assistance to special groups such as the elderly, children, and pregnant women, ensuring comprehensive order during customs clearance.
Hengqin Border Inspection Station reminds all inbound and outbound passengers that the fourth and fifth days of the Lunar New Year are peak periods for passenger flow at the port. The outbound peak is mainly concentrated between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM daily, while the inbound peak is between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Passengers are advised to plan their trips in advance, allocate their time reasonably, and try to avoid peak hours to prevent delays due to concentrated passenger flow.
