
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On March 20, General Luong Sam Quang, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Public Security, presided over a welcoming ceremony in Hanoi to welcome Lieutenant General Vanthong Kongmany, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Minister of Public Security. Following the ceremony, the two sides held talks, exchanging in-depth views on core issues such as deepening cooperation in the public security field and maintaining national security and social order.
During the talks, General Luong Sam Quang first congratulated the Lao Ministry of Public Security on its 65th anniversary. He expressed his firm belief that the Lao public security force will continue to grow and achieve new successes, and stated his willingness to work hand in hand with the Vietnamese public security forces to jointly safeguard the security, stability, and social order of their respective countries, and to solidify the security foundation for friendly cooperation between the two countries.
General Luong Sam Quang emphasized that the current regional and global situation is complex and volatile. As traditional friendly neighbors, Vietnam and Laos need to further consolidate and deepen their close bilateral cooperative relations. Cooperation between the two ministries of public security plays a pivotal role in this regard, making significant contributions over the years to consolidating the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos and promoting the steady development of bilateral relations.
Both sides reviewed and assessed the major achievements of recent cooperation between the two ministries of public security, acknowledging that they have maintained close information sharing and successfully jointly cracked several cases of illegal and irregular activities, effectively safeguarding border security and social stability. Regarding the Lao Ministry of Public Security's Security Command Center project, Liang Sanguang stated that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security is steadily advancing implementation according to plan, ensuring the project is delivered on schedule and with high quality. Regarding the construction of the Lao population and citizenship management system, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will continue to provide assistance and guidance to Laos in ensuring the security of the system and data infrastructure.
Both sides reached broad consensus, agreeing that the two ministries of public security should continue to play an exemplary role in implementing the consensus reached by the two countries' high-level leaders and promoting bilateral cooperation; they should help Lao-Vietnam economic cooperation develop in a pragmatic and efficient direction, focusing on promoting infrastructure connectivity, breaking down administrative barriers and institutional obstacles, effectively guaranteeing a favorable investment and business environment, and ensuring that key cooperation projects are implemented and achieve results on schedule.
Both sides also agreed to strictly implement the 2026 Cooperation Plan between the two ministries and the coordination mechanism among their respective operational units; strengthen cooperation to build a proactive security posture, proactively prevent and respond to various challenges affecting national security; further enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crime, strengthen capacity-building cooperation, and promote the joint improvement of the law enforcement capabilities of both countries.
Vanthong Kongmany congratulated Vietnam on the successful holding of the 16th National Assembly elections and the elections for local people's councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, and on effectively ensuring social order during the elections. He stated that the Lao Ministry of Public Security will work hand in hand with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to earnestly implement the cooperation consensus reached at this meeting, contributing to deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and pushing cooperation in the public security field between the two countries to a new level.
