Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Within the framework of Vietnamese Vice President Vu Thi Anh Xuan's official visit to the Czech Republic from November 13th to 16th at the invitation of Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Vietnam held important talks with high-level Czech leaders on November 14th, contributing to the promotion of bilateral cooperation against the backdrop of the upcoming 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950-2025).

Vu Thi Anh Xuan met with Czech President Petr Pavel and held talks with Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil. During the meetings and talks, the Czech leaders emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner and potential market for their country in Southeast Asia, and believed that the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 presents a good opportunity for both sides to strengthen high-level delegation exchanges and elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level.

Vu Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that the Vietnamese people will forever remember and appreciate the valuable assistance provided by the Czech people to Vietnam's past struggle for independence and national reunification, its current socio-economic development, and its international integration process. She reiterated that Vietnam has always valued strengthening its traditional friendship with the Czech Republic, which is Vietnam's primary partner in Central and Eastern Europe.

Regarding economic cooperation, both sides agreed to continue the effective implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). Vu Thi Anh Xuan hoped that the Czech Republic would support calls for other EU countries to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement as soon as possible and to encourage the European Commission (EC) to lift its "yellow card" warning on Vietnamese seafood. Vietnam is vigorously promoting digital transformation, green transformation, and climate change response, creating new opportunities for Czech businesses.

Regarding labor and education, Vu Thi Anh Xuan hoped that the Czech Republic would consider signing two intergovernmental labor cooperation agreements to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to study and travel to the Czech Republic for tourism. Furthermore, both sides agreed to further promote cooperation in other traditional pillar areas such as science and technology, defense and security, culture, and tourism, and to consider opening direct air routes between the two countries to promote people-to-people exchanges.

Both sides highly praised the recognition of Vietnamese residents in the Czech Republic as the 14th ethnic minority, noting their positive contributions to Czech economic and social development and their role as a bridge for friendly relations between the two countries.

On international issues, both sides agreed to coordinate and support each other within multilateral frameworks and organizations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability and resolving disputes peacefully in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

Previously, on the afternoon of November 13, Vu Thi Anh Xuan met separately with Jaroslav Vitek, Chairman of the Czech-Vietnamese Friendship Association, and Petr Simunek, Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of the Czech Republic and Moravia.

Chairman Jaroslav Vitek highly praised Vietnam's development achievements and emphasized the association's role in promoting bilateral relations and advocating for the recognition of Vietnamese residents in the Czech Republic as an ethnic minority.

Vitek, Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of the Czech Republic and Moravia, pledged to continue promoting the further development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties and countries for the benefit of both peoples. (End)
