
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting was held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, from April 27 to 28, 2026. The meeting was co-chaired by Dato' Eliwan Peshin Yusof, Brunei's Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and National Coordinator for ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, and Kaya Karas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. Foreign ministers from ASEAN and EU member states, as well as representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on the ASEAN-EU strategic partnership framework, discussed pathways for cooperation in various fields, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern. Both sides emphasized that maintaining a rules-based international order is crucial in the context of evolving global circumstances, and will enhance their collective capacity to address challenges by accelerating negotiations on the ASEAN-EU Free Trade Agreement, promoting the transition to renewable energy, and combating transnational crimes such as cyber fraud. The meeting formally adopted the Joint Statement of the 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting, clarifying the consensus on deepening bilateral cooperation and launching preparations for the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-EU dialogue relations in 2027.

During the meeting, Brunei's foreign affairs officials also held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers and senior representatives from the EU, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Poland, and Cyprus to further deepen and solidify bilateral cooperation.
