Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Starting from midnight on June 15th, China Railway implemented a new train schedule. Under the new schedule, the number of trains traveling to and from Xinjiang and Tibet via Qinghai Province within the jurisdiction of China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co., Ltd. has increased. It is understood that all the increased passenger trains to and from Xinjiang run via the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway.

The Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway (also known as the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway or the Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway Second Double Line) is a key project in China's Western Development Strategy. The line is 1776 kilometers long, traversing the three provinces and autonomous regions of Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang in Northwest China, with 267 kilometers within Qinghai Province.

After the schedule adjustment, the number of trains running on the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway has increased from the current 50 pairs to 56.5 pairs. Among them, six pairs of regular passenger trains—Urumqi to Emei, Xi'an to Urumqi, Urumqi to Beijing West, Kunming to Urumqi, Urumqi to Chongqing West, and Dunhuang to Xi'an—will now stop at Xining Station, significantly enhancing the passenger transport capacity of the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway corridor.

Following this timetable adjustment, there are now 8 pairs of direct trains from Lhasa to various destinations across China, covering 12 provincial capitals and municipalities, achieving a coverage rate of 40%.

In response to the continued increase in passengers traveling to and from Tibet, the new timetable includes the adjustment of the Xining-Lhasa Z8981/2 train service to daily operation, and the Xining-Lhasa Z8991/2 train service from temporary to regular operation. To facilitate travel for residents of Lhasa and Shigatse, the Lhasa-Shannan C883/4 train service will be adjusted to operate only the Lhasa-Shigatse section.

Meanwhile, China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co., Ltd. will add temporary passenger train Z9821 between Xining and Lhasa from June 15 to June 30, 2024; and temporary passenger train Z9822 between Lhasa and Xining from June 17 to July 2, 2024. (End)
