According to a report from Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) on April 14th, the Shenyang Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau announced that since 2025, Shenyang City has been focusing on creating "National Exemplary Age-Friendly Communities" to continuously improve the capacity of communities to serve the elderly, achieving remarkable results in various aspects.

Currently, the 13 participating communities in Shenyang (9 urban communities and 4 rural communities) are comprehensively advancing various construction tasks in accordance with the eight areas and 62 indicators outlined in the "National Exemplary Age-Friendly Communities Scoring Rules (Urban Communities)" and the "National Exemplary Age-Friendly Communities Scoring Rules (Rural Communities)."

Firstly, regarding the safety and age-friendliness of the community environment, the 13 participating communities have achieved a 100% rate of safety hazard investigation for water, electricity, and gas usage in households with elderly people living alone, in empty nests, or with disabilities, and a 100% compliance rate for community garbage classification and environmental sanitation.

Secondly, regarding the completeness and convenience of transportation facilities, the barrier-free construction rate of public infrastructure has reached 100%, and community road safety, lighting facilities, and public toilet facilities have all met the requirements for creation.

Third, regarding the accessibility and convenience of basic public services, community-based elderly care services have achieved full coverage, the health management rate for the elderly is 100%, and the coverage rate of elderly meal assistance services and visits to elderly people with special difficulties is 100%. Community volunteer service teams and neighborhood mutual assistance activities are carried out regularly.

Fourth, regarding the broad and full participation of society, all 13 participating units have established elderly associations or cultural and sports teams, and the coverage rate of activity venues for the elderly is 100%. Regular "Silver Age Action" and national education on population aging are conducted, effectively meeting the social participation and cultural life needs of the elderly.

Fifth, regarding the strong atmosphere of respecting and caring for the elderly, the "Respect for the Elderly Month" activities were held in a vibrant and colorful manner, and were very popular among the elderly. Digital elderly assistance services have been fully implemented, and all 13 communities (villages) have retained offline service windows and traditional payment methods. Regular training in smart technologies is conducted to help the elderly bridge the "digital divide." (End)
