Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Artificial intelligence is profoundly changing the way film and television content is produced, becoming a focus for an increasing number of film and television professionals. On the 13th, the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival's new "AI Studio" section officially launched in Shanghai.

The 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Film Festival"), to be held from June 12th to 21st, is China's only A-list international film festival.

This year's Shanghai Film Festival has established the "AI Studio" section for the first time, creating an open AI image collaboration experimental field for the industry. Filmmakers and AI super creators are invited to form teams in a "1+1" format to use AI tools within a month to refine the creative process, complete the creation of AI-generated short films, and transform their process into observable and discussable creative samples.

During the 43-day open call for entries, "AI Studio" received nearly 500 applications from filmmakers and AI super creators from 7 countries and regions. Following preliminary selection, ice-breaking team formation, and a final roadshow, four collaborative production teams, comprised of filmmakers and AI super creators, were formed and showcased at the Shanghai Lingang Science and Technology Smart Library on the same day.

Tong Ying, Deputy Director of the Shanghai International Film and Television Festival Center, stated that the "AI Studio" innovatively adopts a "1+1" integration mechanism, aiming to bring both types of creators into the same creative environment—one bringing visual language and experiential judgment, and the other bringing technological tools and new production logic, bridging cognitive differences and sparking new ideas through collaboration.

Mark Wachholz, a German AI director and member of the collaborative production team "Bicycle Kids," told China News Service that AI film festivals began to emerge two years ago, and he has attended related film festivals in South Korea, Italy, Switzerland, and other countries. This year, he wanted to see if traditional film festivals could accept AI creation. "Showcasing traditional film production and AI creation on the same platform might lead to new integrations and discoveries."

It is reported that over the next month, these four collaborative creative teams, with the support of the production team and academic observation team, will complete the creation of AI short films, adhering to the creative requirement of "genuine emotions," and will record the creative process and conduct periodic observations. During this year's Shanghai International Film Festival, the "AI Film Studio" will be open to the public throughout the Shanghai Film City. (End)
