Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Reporters learned on March 12th from the Ningxia 2026 "3.12" Tree Planting Day event that Ningxia will comprehensively promote 1.5 million mu of ecological restoration this year, deeply integrating the national voluntary tree planting activity into the overall ecological protection strategy, and continuously enriching the green foundation of the "Jiangnan of the Northwest."

This year, Ningxia's 1.5 million mu ecological restoration project will focus on key projects such as water conservation on the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains, comprehensive management of desertified land in the Kubuqi Desert-Mu Us Sandy Land area, soil and water conservation in the southern mountainous areas, and integrated protection and restoration of forests, grasslands, and wetlands. In key areas such as the edge of the Tengger Desert, the southern edge of the Mu Us Sandy Land, and along the Qingshui River, windbreak and sand-fixing forests, soil and water conservation forests, and farmland shelterbelts will be established, and gaps and breaks in forest belts will be replanted to continuously improve the ecological protection network.

To facilitate public participation in ecological governance, Ningxia will launch diversified initiatives for spring afforestation. In addition to on-site tree planting, an online "Internet + voluntary tree planting" platform will be launched, along with activities such as tree adoption, maintenance, and donations, allowing residents to fulfill their responsibilities without leaving their homes.

Meanwhile, Ningxia will continue to deepen cooperation with neighboring provinces such as Gansu, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia, focusing on joint prevention and control in the Mu Us Desert border area of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, and Inner Mongolia, and the Helan Mountain-Niushou Mountain wind gap border area of Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Ningxia, and collaboratively promoting desertification control in inter-provincial areas.

It is reported that Ningxia has achieved a "double reduction" in the area and a "double mitigation" in the degree of desertification and sandification for 25 consecutive years. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Ningxia's desertification and sandification areas decreased by 707,000 mu and 405,000 mu respectively, demonstrating significant achievements in ecological governance.
