Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Nanning City, Guangxi Province, is seeking transformation and seizing opportunities, building a new energy battery industry chain from scratch, with its overall production capacity ranking among the top in China. According to a report by China News Service on the 10th, relevant departments in Nanning City announced that by 2026, Nanning will promote the commissioning and operation of projects such as the BYD three-module battery and Ningfu New Energy's second factory, and introduce upstream and downstream industry chain projects such as battery copper foil raw material processing and battery structural component manufacturing.
The 7th session of the 15th Nanning Municipal People's Congress is currently being held here. The government work report shows that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Nanning City has introduced leading enterprises such as BYD and Do-Fluoride Chemicals, gathering upstream and downstream enterprises to form a complete industry chain covering cell manufacturing, positive and negative electrode materials, battery copper foil, aluminum foil, trays, and separators. The cumulative output value has exceeded 130 billion yuan (RMB), making it one of the world's important new energy battery industry clusters and a core engine of industrial growth.
In recent years, Nanning City has actively seized the significant window of opportunity and strategic period for the development of the new energy battery industry, treating it as a core and leading industry. The city has focused on attracting major projects and cultivating leading enterprises, adhering to a full-industry-chain approach to precisely attract investment in the new energy battery industry, resulting in a gradually complete industry chain.
Since 2022, BYD has successively established six projects in Nanning, with a planned total investment of 28 billion yuan and a planned production capacity of over 80 GWh (gigawatt-hours) for power batteries and energy storage systems. The projected output value is expected to exceed 43 billion yuan by 2025. Among them, Guangxi Fudi is BYD's largest single battery factory globally.
In 2025, the Do-Fluoride Chemicals "Fluorine-Core Battery Full Industry Chain" project was signed and landed in Nanning, adding 100 GWh of battery production capacity and generating 30 billion yuan in output value upon reaching full production. Combined with the previously established "20 GWh lithium battery" project, the total planned production capacity of the Do-Fluoride Chemicals Nanning base will reach 120 GWh, with an estimated annual output value exceeding 36 billion yuan upon reaching full production.
“Nanning’s industrial thinking of ‘linking beads into chains and clustering chains into clusters’ aligns perfectly with our development path of ‘new materials supporting new energy and new energy driving new materials,’ further strengthening our determination to invest,” said a representative from Do-Fluoride New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
The Longdian Huaxin 100,000-ton lithium-ion battery copper foil project is located in the Emerging Industry Park of Yongning District, Nanning, with a planned total investment of 12 billion yuan and an output value of 15 billion yuan upon reaching full production capacity. The project is being accelerated and is expected to reach a production capacity of 25,000 tons by June 2026.
Currently, Nanning’s new energy battery industry has a planned production capacity of over 200 GWh and an operational capacity of over 100 GWh. Nanning’s production capacity of new energy batteries, power battery aluminum foil, and battery casing materials ranks among the top in the country. The new energy battery industry has become a powerful engine for Nanning’s economic development.
Furthermore, Nanning’s new energy battery industry continues to empower Guangxi’s new energy vehicle industry chain, helping Chinese new energy vehicle companies “go global.” Battery products are exported to ASEAN, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and other markets, forming a cross-border industrial chain and supply chain of “Guangxi core component manufacturing + ASEAN vehicle assembly + global market.” According to the Nanning Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Nanning will further strengthen and extend the lithium battery industry chain, expand the development of new battery product chains, and leverage Nanning's geographical location and existing industrial advantages. With leading enterprises as the driving force, the city will continuously strengthen investment attraction, project construction, and enterprise cultivation in the upstream and downstream industrial chains, creating a complete industrial chain encompassing "material manufacturing—battery production—application scenarios—recycling."
