Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On January 27th, the Nanjing Maritime Safety Administration issued a "Safety Operation Registration Certificate for Inland Waterway Navigation Areas" to the Changjiang Huishangyuanmen Low-Altitude Flight Base, marking the official opening of the city's second newly added waterborne drone delivery point in the new year. This brings the total number of low-altitude logistics points in Nanjing providing "delivery" services to the Yangtze River waterway to five, accelerating both the development of the low-altitude economy and the construction of a regional shipping logistics center at the beginning of the new year.
In August 2025, Nanjing pioneered the "waterborne delivery" service nationwide, using drones to deliver supplies to vessels on the waterway, solving the problem of inconvenient resupply for crew members. Statistics show that in 2025, low-altitude logistics flights along the Nanjing section of the Yangtze River totaled 55,000 sorties, covering approximately 230,000 kilometers, delivering 390 tons of supplies to over 15,000 vessels. To regulate this new business model, the Nanjing Maritime Safety Administration issued the nation's first "traffic regulations" for low-altitude waterborne logistics in September of the same year.
Currently, Nanjing's "floating food delivery" service covers a 50-kilometer stretch of the Yangtze River and two ship anchorages (berthing areas) within the city. This innovative service has not only become a landmark achievement of Nanjing's low-altitude economy but has also significantly enhanced the city's attractiveness to shipping professionals.
Data shows that Nanjing currently has 67,900 registered seafarers, ranking first in Jiangsu Province, providing crucial human resource support for the construction of a regional shipping logistics center. It is understood that Nanjing also plans to add another floating food delivery base to further enhance its service capabilities. (End)
