  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The first session of the 10th National Assembly of Laos unanimously elected Thongloun Sisoulith as President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, officially beginning his new five-year legislative term.

  At the first session of the 10th National Assembly held on March 23, members also elected Dr. Viengthone Siphandone as Vice President. Several important national leadership positions were successfully confirmed, reflecting the continuity and stability of Laos's high-level governance.

  The meeting announced that Dr. Saysomphone Phomvihane was re-elected as President of the National Assembly and elected a candidate for Vice President; Dr. Somxay Siphandone was re-elected as Prime Minister.

  The meeting also announced the appointments of important positions including Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Supreme People's Court, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Director of the National Audit Office, and Director of the National Inspectorate. These positions play a crucial role in strengthening national governance, judicial fairness, and institutional oversight, ensuring the efficient and transparent operation of the highest organs of state power.

  In his inaugural address, President Thongloun solemnly pledged to faithfully perform his duties and wholeheartedly serve the country. He stated, "I am honored to accept this noble responsibility and will defend our sacred national flag with my life." He pledged to uphold the Constitution and serve the multi-ethnic people of Laos wholeheartedly.

  President Thongloun reiterated his commitment to fully implementing the resolutions of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, adhering to the rule of law and constitutional governance, promoting sustainable socio-economic development, accelerating rural development, actively addressing various social challenges, and pursuing a foreign policy of peace, independence, friendship, and cooperation.

  He called on all Lao citizens and overseas Lao compatriots to unite and support the cause of national development and security.

  The first session of the 10th National Assembly of Laos was held from March 23 to 27, marking the formal establishment of the 10th Legislative Body and laying the foundation for the country's policy direction and formulation over the next five years. As the highest organ of state power, the National Assembly is responsible for legislation, approving national socio-economic development plans, and supervising the government's operations according to law.

  The new Legislative Body will prioritize economic recovery, fiscal stability, and structural reforms, continuing to advance Laos's progress out of the ranks of least developed countries and deepening regional integration.

  In his concluding remarks, President Thongloun called upon the people of Laos to uphold the spirit of unity and patriotism, to unite all sectors of society in contributing to national development and safeguarding national security, and to work together to build a prosperous, strong, and harmonious Lao.
