Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos, and his wife led a high-level delegation of the Lao Party and State to Hanoi on the morning of January 27 during a state visit to Vietnam, paying homage to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to deeply cherish the memory of this hero of Vietnamese national liberation and outstanding cultural figure. Le Hoai Trung, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, attended the related activities.

At the event, Thongloun Sisoulith and his delegation laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The ribbon on the wreath prominently read, "President Ho Chi Minh lives forever in our revolutionary cause," conveying the Lao Party and State's profound respect for President Ho Chi Minh and their deep appreciation for the revolutionary friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

It is understood that among the valuable spiritual legacy left by President Ho Chi Minh, his ideas on pure international solidarity have had a profound influence. The great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos are among the most typical and moving examples of this idea. It was President Ho Chi Minh who personally laid a solid foundation for the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos, pointing the way for the long-term stable development of bilateral relations. This profound friendship has become a shared spiritual asset of the two peoples.

After paying their respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Thongloun Sisoulith and his delegation proceeded to the Heroes and Martyrs' Memorial, where they laid wreaths once more to deeply commemorate the heroic martyrs who made outstanding contributions to the Vietnamese revolution. The ribbon on the wreath presented by the delegation read: "The great achievements of the Vietnamese revolutionary fighters will forever be engraved in history," paying tribute to all the heroic sons and daughters who sacrificed themselves for the cause of Vietnamese national independence and liberation.

Previously, on January 26, General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith attended the formal welcoming ceremony held by Vietnam at the Presidential Palace with the highest honors for a head of state. During his visit, he held talks with General Secretary To Lam of the Communist Party of Vietnam, met with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and co-chaired with To Lam a briefing on the outcomes of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, comprehensively deepening high-level communication and cooperation between the two countries.

It is noteworthy that after the successful conclusion of the 12th Lao Party Congress on January 8, 2026, and Thongloun Sisoulith's re-election as General Secretary of the Lao Party Central Committee, Vietnam will be his first destination after assuming the highest leadership position in Laos. This arrangement is of significant milestone importance. It fully demonstrates the high importance that the Lao Party and State, as well as Thongloun Sisoulith himself, attach to Vietnam-Laos relations, and highlights the firm determination of both countries to inherit and develop their special friendly relations. This will not only help elevate the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and close strategic alignment between Vietnam and Laos to a new level, but will also inject new and strong impetus into pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
