Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The second phase of the Vientiane-Hanoi Expressway project is progressing steadily. This 203.8-kilometer section connects Bashan District in Bolikhamxay Province, Laos, with Say Chanphong District on the Lao-Vietnamese border, and is a core cross-border transportation infrastructure project in the region.

Phonepaseuth Inthasone, President of 3S Development Co., Ltd., disclosed the project's progress at the Vientiane-Laos Investment Promotion Conference. The conference was co-chaired by the prime ministers of Laos and Vietnam, and attended by high-ranking officials and representatives from the private sector from both countries.

Phonepaseuth Inthasone stated that since the consortium comprised of Namtha Bridge and Road Construction, CK Import & Export Trade, and 3S Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the feasibility study for the second phase of the project in November 2021, significant resources have been invested in conducting a detailed investigation.

The investigation includes surveying alternative routes, clearing construction sites, and collecting environmental and social impact data to refine the approval documents and ensure compliance with the regulations and standards of both countries.

In October 2025, the consortium will receive government approval to sign a Concession Agreement (CA), officially commencing construction. Construction equipment has been deployed for the first 160 kilometers of the road, with work scheduled to begin on the border section in Sai Chan Phong district after the rainy season.

The consortium has pledged that, with ample funding and extensive experience, it can ensure the project's completion by 2029. To expedite the process, construction is proceeding simultaneously with bridge building, segmented earthwork (15-20 kilometers per segment), and paving of the plains, while also importing heavy equipment and employing Myanmar foreign workers in shifts.

Phonepaseuth emphasized that the consortium is coordinating with relevant Vietnamese provinces to determine border connection points and appealed to the party and government leaders of both countries for their support in ensuring the project's timely completion.

Upon completion, the project will significantly improve cross-border transport and regional connectivity between Laos and Vietnam, deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.
