
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On Thursday, the Lao People's Democratic Republic held a grand ceremony at the Central Office to award commemorative medals to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the nation's founding. Lao President and Secretary of the Central Committee, Thongloun Sisoulith, attended the ceremony, along with former Secretaries of the Central Committee, former Presidents, Politburo members, Central Committee members, and current and former leaders of various ministries and agencies, witnessing this important moment.
The ceremony was presided over by Vilayvong Bouthakham, Deputy Director of the Lao Central Personnel and Organization Committee, who read out the presidential decree awarding the 50th anniversary commemorative medals. These medals are intended to recognize the selfless dedication of the nation's top leaders to the revolutionary cause and their outstanding contributions to national development. The ceremony also commemorated former leaders such as Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, while paying tribute to all revolutionaries, heroes, party members, officials, and the multi-ethnic Lao people who fought for national independence and successfully established the Lao People's Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975, remembering their immortal achievements and great sacrifices. The medal-awarding ceremony proceeded smoothly. Vice President and Politburo member Pany Yathothour first presented a medal to President Thongloun Sisoulith. President Thongloun then awarded medals to former General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President Choummaly Sayasone and Bounnhang Vorachith, while 16 current and retired Politburo members received medals simultaneously. In addition, Central Committee Standing Committee member and Vice President Bounthong Chimani presented medals to eight members of the Central Committee Secretariat, Vice Presidents of the National Assembly, former Vice Presidents of the National Assembly, and eight former party and government leaders.
As an important part of the nationwide celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Laos' national founding, this medal-awarding ceremony not only demonstrated the Lao people's pride in the country's historical achievements but also conveyed the nation's firm commitment to unity and continued national development.
