Vietnam and Laos promote strategic cooperation projects

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – From May 26th to 29th, a working delegation from Vinachem, a Vietnamese chemical group, visited Laos to promote the implementation of a potash mining and processing project in Khammouane Province, central Laos. This is a strategic cooperation project between Vietnam and Laos.

  On May 27th, Vinachem Chairman Phung Quang Hiep briefed Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith and relevant ministries on the progress of the Khammouane potash mining and processing project, including land acquisition and resettlement, infrastructure preparation, equipment delivery, personnel organization, and additional investment. He also suggested that the Lao government instruct relevant ministries to coordinate and resolve some outstanding formalities to create favorable conditions for accelerating the project's progress and ensuring its planned implementation.

  Saleumxay Kommasith affirmed and highly praised the role of the potash mining project, emphasizing that its successful implementation not only has economic benefits but also special political and diplomatic significance, contributing to further consolidating the special relationship between the two countries. He emphasized that the Lao government attaches great importance to the project and will continue to create the most favorable conditions for Vinachem to smoothly advance it.

  After listening to the report and the group's suggestions, Saleumxay Kommasith instructed the Lao-Vietnamese Cooperation Committee, the Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare to actively coordinate and assist in resolving related issues.

  On the same day, Phanchinda Lengsavad, Executive Vice Chairman of the Lao-Vietnamese Cooperation Committee, held working talks with Vinachem to ensure the simultaneous implementation and timely completion of the Khammouane potash mining and processing project.

  On May 28, a Vinachem working delegation conducted a site visit to the Khammouane potash mining and processing project and met with Khammouane provincial leaders and relevant department leaders to eliminate obstacles related to investment procedures, planning, environment, and labor.

  Khammouane Deputy Governor Somsaath Ounsida pledged to continue guiding relevant departments to provide the most favorable conditions for the Vinachem Group to successfully implement the project.

  In addition, within the framework of a working visit to Laos, the Vinachem working delegation met with Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam to report on the project's implementation. (End)
