377 prisoners were released in Laos in 2024.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that in 2024, a total of 2,716 ordinary prisoners were pardoned, had their sentences reduced, or were released, including 357 women; 2,339 prisoners received sentence reductions, including 294 women; 19 foreigners, including 4 women; 13 life-prisoners, including 2 women; 2,261 drug crime suspects, including 283 women and 18 foreigners, including 4 women; 13 life-prisoners, including 2 women; and 78 ordinary prisoners, including 11 women and 1 foreigner.

  In addition, 377 prisoners were granted parole, including 63 women and 7 foreigners; 363 drug prisoners, including 60 women and 4 foreigners; and 14 ordinary prisoners, including 3 women and 3 foreigners.

  27 prisoners sentenced to death were pardoned, and their sentences were reduced to life imprisonment. Six of them were women and three were foreigners, all convicted of drug crimes.

  On February 28, 2025, Sasanna Ho Duc Phuong, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, chief of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and vice chairman of the State Amnesty Committee, reported on the number of prisoners at a meeting summarizing the implementation of the amnesty work in 2024 and the key directions for the amnesty in 2025.
