Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – From December 9th to 10th, 2025, a delegation from the Singapore Nanyang International Club (NIC) conducted a two-day in-depth business visit and cooperation negotiations in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone of Laos, successfully signing a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation with the zone. This visit was jointly organized by the Nanyang International Club and the Laos-Singapore Promotion Association, with the core objective of exploring new opportunities for regional cooperation and promoting precise alignment of practical projects between the two sides.
On the first day of the visit, at a thematic briefing, relevant officials from the zone comprehensively and systematically introduced its development background – its unique geographical advantage at the intersection of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, and its development strategy centered on tourism, agriculture, logistics and trade, and light industry. The accompanying experts highly praised the zone's rich resources, unanimously agreeing that it possesses broad development prospects and enormous potential.
Accompanied by officials from relevant departments of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the delegation conducted on-site investigations of several key projects within the SEZ, including the planned Ban Mo Comprehensive Bonded Zone, a modern agricultural base, the Ben Lo Hot Spring water pipeline project, the Golden Triangle Kapok School, and the under-construction Suvannakhon Buddha project at Golden Dragon Mountain. Through these visits, the delegation gained a direct understanding of the significant achievements the SEZ has made in infrastructure construction, the cultivation of distinctive industries, the optimization of social governance, and the development of cultural and tourism resources.
The following day, a special symposium on investment cooperation was held. Khamsawong, Director of the Administrative Authority of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone of Laos, and Sun Jie, President of Golden Kapok Group Co., Ltd., warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed their strong desire to deepen cooperation with Chinese and Singaporean entrepreneurs in multiple fields. Sun Xia, President of the Nanyang International Club, stated that this visit was an important part of the club's "Retracing the Silk Road" ASEAN series of activities. He highly recognized the SEZ's superior location and strong policy support, believing that the prospects for cooperation between the two sides are very broad.
At the symposium, both sides focused on in-depth discussions regarding the SEZ's key development areas. The participating entrepreneurs and experts, leveraging their own resource advantages, proposed professional and feasible cooperation insights and preliminary intentions in areas such as agricultural modernization and upgrading, cross-border logistics channel construction, green energy development, integration of culture, tourism, and health, facilitation of financial services, and cultivation of emerging industries. In response to these needs, relevant officials from the Special Economic Zone provided on-site answers and detailed responses to key issues such as investment policy details and full-process investment services.
In the presence of all participating representatives, both parties formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a regular cooperation and exchange mechanism. According to the memorandum, both parties will focus on agriculture, culture, tourism, health, light industry, education, and the digital economy to promote pragmatic cross-border cooperation; simultaneously, they will actively explore the construction of a long-term and stable industrial synergy mechanism between Singapore, the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, and the ASEAN market, working together to make the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone a model for industrial cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong region.
The successful completion of this inspection tour and the signing of the memorandum of understanding not only opened a new window for the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone to connect with Singapore and even the international network of high-quality resources, but also built an efficient cooperation bridge for Chinese and Singaporean enterprises to deeply participate in the development of emerging markets in ASEAN. Both parties pledged to promote the implementation of subsequent cooperation in a pragmatic and efficient manner, and work together to achieve complementary advantages and mutual benefits.
