Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On June 26, 2025, coinciding with the 38th International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (GTEZ) in Laos held a series of diverse and comprehensive anti-drug publicity and education activities under the theme of "Drug-Free SEZ, Protecting the Future." Through a swearing-in ceremony, a themed parade, a pledge signing ceremony, and expert lectures, the event comprehensively demonstrated the SEZ's unwavering resolve and fruitful achievements in drug control.

At 9:00 a.m. local time, a solemn ceremony filled the playground of Kapok School, as nearly a thousand SEZ residents, teachers, students, merchants, and business representatives lined up in formation. Acting Director of the SEZ Administrative Authority, Kansawang Vilaipeng, Director of the SEZ Public Security Bureau, Anusin, and other leaders attended the swearing-in ceremony. In his mobilization speech, King Kansha emphasized, "Creating a 'drug-free zone' is not only a bottom line requirement for the development of the Special Zone, but also our responsibility to the next generation." Then, led by a representative of the Special Zone Management Committee, all participants solemnly swore, "Resolutely resist drugs and build a drug-free home." The resounding oath resounded through the air.

At 9:30 a.m., a massive anti-drug parade departed from Muqian School. Police cars led the parade. A formation of representatives from all walks of life in the Special Zone held high slogans such as "Drug-Free Zone, Healthy Future" and "Nationwide Anti-Drug Campaign Benefits the Nation and the People." They distributed anti-drug leaflets to residents along the way. Particularly eye-catching was the "Red Scarf Anti-Drug Propaganda Team," composed of elementary and middle school students. Their youthful yet resolute voices chanted anti-drug slogans, creating a dazzling scene in the parade.

In the main entrance plaza of the Muqian Star Hotel, a 10-meter-long "Drug-Free Zone Commitment Wall" was bustling with activity. Residents of the Special Zone signed messages on the wall, expressing their support for anti-drug efforts. Mr. Li, a Chinese businessman in his sixties, excitedly said, "Seeing the SAR's commitment to drug control, we feel more secure doing business."

The afternoon anti-drug education lecture was packed. Drug control experts from the Bokeo Provincial Public Security Department explained the dangers of new drugs and preventive measures in an easy-to-understand manner, using real-life cases. Police officers from the SAR Public Security Bureau demonstrated rapid drug testing methods and engaged in an interactive Q&A session with the audience. Following the lecture, each participant received a carefully crafted "Anti-Drug Knowledge Handbook" and souvenirs.

In his concluding remarks, Lieutenant Colonel Lengpo Cantaviong, a representative of the Bokeo Provincial Public Security Department, noted, "Through its 'urban alternative development model,' the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone has not only achieved its own transformation but also set an example for regional drug control. Today's event fully demonstrated the SAR's mass support and institutional strengths in drug control."
