Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Phnom Penh law enforcement recently conducted a special operation, successfully dismantling a large-scale cross-border telecommunications fraud gang that had long operated within the city. On the 6th of this month, Phnom Penh Deputy Mayor Hua Hai personally directed a raid on an apartment in Sen Sok district, arresting 218 foreign nationals involved in the case.

Under the Deputy Mayor's unified command, the police acted decisively and meticulously, successfully apprehending all suspects inside the apartment. Investigations revealed that all 218 arrested individuals were foreign nationals from six countries: 93 Chinese, 91 Bangladeshi, 17 Vietnamese, 11 Indian, 5 Japanese, and 1 Lao.

Law enforcement officers seized a large number of tools used in the crimes at the scene, fully demonstrating the gang's professional criminal characteristics. The seized items included 133 all-in-one computers, 44 laptops, 392 smartphones, as well as 5 counterfeit Japanese police uniforms and 4 fake identification documents, providing crucial support for the case's resolution.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the criminal gang used high-tech methods to engage in cross-border telecommunications and online fraud. Their methods were covert and diverse: first, they impersonated Japanese police officers, wearing counterfeit uniforms and carrying fake identification, to precisely target Japanese citizens; second, they used online social media platforms to lure victims under the guise of "romantic relationships," committing social media fraud; and third, they established fake investment platforms, primarily targeting people from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.

Currently, all 218 suspects have been transferred to the Phnom Penh Police Department for further interrogation. Cambodian police have clearly stated that they will prosecute and handle the cases according to Cambodian law, resolutely upholding the dignity of the law.

This special operation fully demonstrates the Cambodian government's firm determination to combat cross-border cybercrime, maintain regional security and stability, and enhance its international image, injecting strong momentum into regional anti-fraud cooperation.
