Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao and his wife Ding Yue recently hosted an International Women's Day reception at the embassy themed "The Charm of Umbrellas in Jiangnan." Nearly 300 people attended, including women from various sectors of Japanese society who are friendly to China, representatives of overseas Chinese women, and female diplomats from various countries stationed in Japan.

Ambassador Wu Jianghao extended holiday greetings to the women present, stating that the Communist Party of China attaches great importance to the development of women's causes and insists on integrating women's causes into the grand practice of Chinese-style modernization. He noted that current Sino-Japanese relations are facing difficulties, and the future direction depends on Japan's choices. He emphasized that empty talk about willingness to engage in dialogue is insufficient; the key is to adhere to the serious political consensus reached during the normalization of Sino-Japanese relations and to safeguard the political foundation of Sino-Japanese relations through concrete actions.

Ambassador Ding Yue stated that the umbrella is a poetic cultural symbol in the writings of Chinese literati, and the evolution of umbrella art in various countries is a microcosm of cultural exchange. She expressed her hope that women from all countries will make greater contributions to promoting global prosperity and progress.

The event featured a diverse array of traditional Chinese oil-paper umbrellas, flower arrangements, and performances by children from the Embassy's Sunshine School, the Overseas Chinese Children's Choir in Japan, and the Yokohama Yamate Chinese School. (End)
