Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On January 26, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, held talks with Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in Beijing.
Wang Yi stated that China and Islamic countries have a long tradition of friendly exchanges. Both have historically suffered national calamities and the erosion of their civilizations, yet they shared common ideals and supported each other on the path to national liberation. Both sides are developing countries and important forces on the world stage. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Iran have always respected and supported each other, pursuing equality, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, contributing to their respective development and revitalization and the well-being of their people, setting a model of global South solidarity and cooperation. The OIC is the largest intergovernmental organization in the Islamic world and an important symbol of the unity and autonomy of Islamic countries. China has always attached great strategic importance to developing relations with Islamic countries and the OIC, and appreciates Iran's firm support on issues related to Xinjiang and Taiwan. China is willing to work with Iran to consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen strategic coordination, firmly support each other, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and jointly move towards a community with a shared future for mankind.
Wang Yi stated that the world is undergoing rapid changes, a once-in-a-century transformation. China is willing to work with Islamic countries to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, oppose the world's regression to the "law of the jungle," and end the historical injustice of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. We must build development partnerships, focusing on high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, strengthening the alignment of development strategies, and achieving sustainable development. We must build security partnerships, promoting political solutions to regional hotspots, opposing power politics and bullying, and maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East. We must build civilization partnerships, strengthening dialogue among civilizations, enhancing exchanges on governance, and jointly resisting the "superiority of civilization" theory. We must build governance partnerships, practicing genuine multilateralism, upholding the core position of the United Nations and the basic norms of international relations, and promoting the building of a more just and equitable global governance system.
Taha stated that the two great civilizations of Iran and China have long respected each other and have a long history of friendly exchanges. Islamic countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) cherish their traditional friendship with China and appreciate China's valuable support. The OIC adheres to the one-China principle, appreciates Xinjiang's tremendous development achievements, and opposes external interference in China's internal affairs. Currently, the perverse actions of certain countries are plunging the world into difficulties. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is willing to steadfastly consolidate and deepen its partnership with China, strengthen exchanges of experience in governance, maintain the positive momentum of dialogue and cooperation, bring more benefits to the people of both sides, and jointly safeguard regional peace, stability, prosperity, and development.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues such as Palestine. Taha appreciated China's consistent upholding of justice and its positive contributions to promoting a comprehensive, lasting, and just solution to the Palestinian question, and looked forward to China continuing to play a greater role.
