Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Reporters learned today that the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) has approved and released the national standard "Classification and Determination of Traditional Chinese Medicine Constitutions." Drafted by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the standard will officially take effect on April 1st.

The "Classification and Determination of Traditional Chinese Medicine Constitutions" specifies the characteristics of nine basic types of TCM constitutions and the determination of TCM constitution classification, with three main characteristics:

First, it covers all application scenarios. The standard is applicable to all fields of medical treatment, public health, scientific research, teaching, and the health industry, providing a basis for determination for disease prevention centers, physical examination institutions, and primary healthcare.

Second, it innovates on evidence-based constitution characteristics. Based on the latest TCM constitution research results from 2009 to 2024, the descriptions of the characteristics of TCM constitutions such as balanced constitution, qi deficiency constitution, yang deficiency constitution, yin deficiency constitution, phlegm-dampness constitution, damp-heat constitution, blood stasis constitution, qi stagnation constitution, and special constitution have selected the latest results with better evidence-based support as the basis, reflecting the latest research achievements in TCM constitution science.

Third, it establishes a standardized method for constitution identification. The standard transforms the complex and specialized determination of constitution categories by selecting typical sensory experiences representing different constitutions and matching them with corresponding scoring algorithms, thus forming a standardized method for assessment and promoting the development and dissemination of constitution identification.

The release and implementation of this standard marks a new stage in the more standardized and regulated development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) constitution studies, providing strong support for improving public health literacy and optimizing health service models.
