  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders on January 3, Xu Deming, a survivor of the Nanjing Massacre, passed away on January 2 at the age of 96. As of now, only 22 registered survivors remain alive.

  Xu Deming recalled that before the fall of Nanjing in December 1937, her entire family of seven hid in the basement of Mingde Girls' Middle School. Fearing that their children's crying would attract the Japanese army, the family was forced to return to their home on Mochou Road. After the Japanese army entered the city on December 13, her father, Xu Chunyou, was arrested and later brutally murdered in the Qingliangshan area. Xu Deming herself was also beaten by Japanese soldiers in the street.

  2026 will mark the 89th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre. Survivors of the Nanjing Massacre are historical witnesses to this tragedy. As time goes by, the survivor community is dwindling. Since 2026, two survivors have already passed away. (End)
