Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On December 12 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, held talks with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah in Abu Dhabi.
Wang Yi stated that the UAE is a Middle Eastern country with unique and significant influence. Our two countries share compatible development strategies, similar governing philosophies, and highly complementary economies, making us natural friends and partners. China has always grasped the direction of bilateral relations from a strategic perspective and promoted their development from a comprehensive diplomatic standpoint. For over 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and the UAE have respected and supported each other, and bilateral relations have withstood the test of international vicissitudes, maintaining healthy and stable development. In particular, President Xi Jinping and President Mohammed bin Salman have established a solid foundation of mutual trust and friendship, providing the most important political guarantee for the development of bilateral relations and making the highest-level design for cooperation. In recent years, under the guidance of the two heads of state, cooperation between China and the UAE in various fields has been at the forefront of the times, achieving tangible results in energy, trade, investment, finance, Chinese language education, civil aviation, and tourism, benefiting the people of both countries. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the UAE, implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, uphold the original aspiration of establishing diplomatic relations, deepen strategic mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, continue traditional friendship, and jointly promote the China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.
Wang Yi emphasized that China supports the UAE in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions, supports the measures taken by the UAE to safeguard national security and development, and supports the UAE in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. China is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the UAE, consolidate political mutual trust, and elevate the level of bilateral relations. Both sides should continue to advance the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen cooperation in traditional areas such as investment, oil and gas, and infrastructure, explore cooperation in emerging areas such as new energy and technological innovation, explore trilateral cooperation, and successfully operate the demonstration park for bilateral production capacity cooperation to jointly achieve high-quality development. Both sides should promote cooperation in tourism, universities, youth, civil aviation, think tanks, and other fields, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and strive to achieve the goal of opening Chinese language courses in 200 schools in the UAE as soon as possible.
Wang Yi stated that three years ago, the first China-Arab States Summit was successfully held, sending a strong signal to the outside world of China-UAE unity, cooperation, and common development. Next year, China will host the second China-Arab States Summit, and welcomes Arab leaders to attend. It is believed that with the support of the UAE and other countries, the summit will achieve positive results and elevate China-Arab relations to a new level. China hopes the UAE will play a positive role in promoting the early completion of the China-Gulf Cooperation Council Free Trade Agreement negotiations. China is also willing to strengthen policy communication and position coordination with the UAE on multilateral platforms such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the United Nations, jointly upholding multilateralism and free trade, defending international fairness and justice, and promoting the building of a more just and equitable global governance system.
Abdullah stated that over the past 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-UAE relations have developed rapidly on the basis of mutual respect and trust, yielding fruitful results in cooperation across various fields, and deepening friendship between the people, becoming a model of state-to-state relations. In particular, the mutual visits and maintained good friendship between President Mohammed and President Xi Jinping in recent years have provided important guidance and injected strong impetus into the development of bilateral relations. The UAE firmly adheres to the one-China principle, firmly supports China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity and achieving national reunification, and resolutely opposes external interference in China's internal affairs.
Abdullah stated that the Arab world highly values and places its relations with China at the forefront of its foreign policy. The Arab world is willing to maintain close high-level exchanges with China, expand cooperation in trade, investment, energy, science and technology, education, and other fields, jointly explore third-party markets, make good use of the visa-free policy, promote people-to-people exchanges, and continuously enrich the content of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The Arab world is willing to play a positive role in deepening relations between Arab countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and China, and to promote the acceleration of negotiations on the China-GCC Free Trade Agreement. The Arab world highly appreciates China's important and constructive role in international and regional affairs and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, BRICS, and the G20, making greater contributions to promoting regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues such as the situation in the Middle East. (End)
