Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, announced the closing of the 15th National Games of the People's Republic of China. The anthem of the 15th National Games was played, the flag of the 15th National Games was slowly lowered, and the main torch, which had burned for 13 days, was extinguished.
Huang Kunming, Zheng Jianbang, Chen Yiqin, Zhu Yongxin, and Liu Zhenli attended the closing ceremony.
The 15th National Games was the first large-scale sporting event jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, representing an innovative practice of "One Country, Two Systems" in the field of sports. Li Jiachao, Executive Director of the Organizing Committee of the 15th National Games and Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, delivered a speech, saying that the successful co-hosting of the National Games by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao for the first time has jointly written a new chapter in the integrated development of the Greater Bay Area. At the closing ceremony, Meng Fanli, Li Jiachao, and Cen Haohui returned the National Games flag to Gao Zhidan, who then handed it over to Mao Weiming, Governor of Hunan Province, the host city of the 16th National Games. The 16th National Games will be held in Hunan in 2029.
The 15th National Games opened in Guangzhou on November 9th, featuring 34 competitive events and 23 mass participation events, with more than 14,000 athletes and approximately 11,000 mass athletes participating. Five individuals and three teams broke eight world records eight times; ten individuals and four teams set or broke thirteen Asian records fourteen times; and ten individuals and four teams set fourteen national records fifteen times.
The closing ceremony also featured a cultural and sports performance themed "The Sea of Stars."
