  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) November 4 – Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with the newly appointed African Union Representative to China, Thomas Bach, in Beijing and accepted her letter of appointment.

  Wang Yi welcomed Bach to China, stating that the African Union is a banner of African unity and self-reliance, and has made positive progress in promoting overall African development and integration. Strengthening solidarity and cooperation with Africa is an important priority of China's diplomacy. China has always stood with developing countries, with African countries, and with the right side of history. China-Africa cooperation is essentially South-South cooperation, a mutual support and assistance among developing countries. The 21st century should be an era for China and Africa to accelerate development and revitalization. He thanked the African side for its support of the series of global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. China is willing to work with the African side to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the zero-tariff measures on 100% of tariff lines for products from African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, jointly promote modernization, build a China-Africa community with a shared future for a new era, and jointly protect the planet we all share. He hoped that the African Union Representative Office in China would continue to play a positive role in promoting overall China-Africa cooperation.

  Bach stated that he was honored to serve as the African Union Representative to China. He noted the long history of friendship between Africa and China, and the strong and united relationship between the two sides, setting a model for the world. The African Union recognizes and supports President Xi Jinping's vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and his series of major initiatives on global governance. The African Union is willing to work with China to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, promoting more fruitful cooperation that benefits the African people.
