Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Amidst ongoing geopolitical conflicts and overall global economic pressure, Cambodia's foreign investment market has defied the trend, demonstrating remarkable resilience. The latest data from the National Bank of Cambodia shows that in the first half of 2026, Cambodia's total foreign direct investment (FDI) reached approximately US$2.6 billion, a significant year-on-year increase of 18.5%, fully demonstrating the international capital market's high recognition and strong confidence in Cambodia's economic development prospects.

From an industry structure perspective, Cambodia's FDI exhibits a significantly differentiated and multi-faceted growth trend. The financial sector performed the best, surging 110.9% year-on-year, becoming the core driver of foreign investment growth. The non-financial sector as a whole maintained steady growth, with an increase of 8.9%. Among specific sub-sectors, the energy and manufacturing industries showed strong growth momentum, increasing by 23.3% and 14% year-on-year respectively, while the construction industry saw a slight increase of 0.1%. At the same time, investment in some traditional industries declined, with agriculture, real estate, and hotels and entertainment investments decreasing by 29.8%, 20.2%, and 12% year-on-year respectively, indicating a clear structural adjustment in the industry.

Hong Vanna, an economic expert at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, analyzed that Cambodia's counter-trend growth in foreign investment is primarily due to the country's long-term stable political environment, favorable investment policies, abundant labor force, and continuously improving infrastructure system. This favorable business environment will continue to empower the transformation and upgrading of the local manufacturing industry and contribute to the sustained expansion of foreign trade.
