Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Recently, the Yiwu County Wind-Solar-Off-Grid Hydrogen Production Integrated Application Demonstration Project was officially included in the second batch of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's New Energy Local Consumption Projects (Green Electricity Direct Connection) list, becoming Xinjiang's first off-grid green electricity direct connection project.
Located in Yiwu County, Hami City, the project is led by Xinjiang Yuanchuang New Energy Transportation Technology Co., Ltd., with a total investment of approximately 2.459 billion yuan. The project plans a total installed capacity of 690,000 kilowatts of new energy, supported by 160,000 kilowatts/320,000 kilowatt-hours of energy storage. It adopts a wind-solar complementary, off-grid independent operation mode, not relying on the public power grid, achieving 100% self-generation and self-consumption of green electricity for direct hydrogen production.
After completion, the project will produce approximately 30,000 tons of green hydrogen annually and consume approximately 1.65 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually, equivalent to saving 500,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.35 million tons, demonstrating significant environmental benefits. Meanwhile, the project will construct a closed-loop industrial chain encompassing wind and solar power generation, green hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and refueling, and hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck applications. It will primarily serve scenarios such as mining transportation and green hydrogen substitution in coal chemical industries, promoting Yiwu County as a significant hydrogen energy industry hub in Northwest China.
A relevant official from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission explained that as a benchmark project for off-grid consumption in Xinjiang, this project will effectively address the difficulties of grid connection and consumption of new energy in remote areas, providing a "Xinjiang solution" for the development of the green hydrogen industry in wind and solar resource-rich areas nationwide. The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission will continue to strengthen resource guarantees, accelerate the project's construction and commissioning, and help Xinjiang build an integrated industrial ecosystem of "wind, solar, hydrogen storage, and utilization," transforming its clean energy resource advantages into industrial and developmental advantages.
