
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Yesterday, Dr. Khin Naing Oo, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, met with a delegation led by Yodee Supasri, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Thai Embassy in Myanmar, at the Central Bank headquarters in Naypyidaw. The two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperation in banking between the two countries and reached several consensuses.
During the meeting, the Thai Chargé d'Affaires ad interim expressed gratitude for the Central Bank of Myanmar's support in facilitating trade and financial transactions for the Thai private sector and stabilizing the exchange rate. He welcomed the Central Bank of Myanmar's policy of gradually relaxing restrictions on the exchange rate of export revenue for Myanmar Kyat. He conveyed the Thai business community's desire to expand investment in Myanmar using Thai Baht and further deepen trade and investment ties between the two countries; he also stated that Thailand is willing to provide necessary technical assistance to the Central Bank of Myanmar.
Dr. Khin Naing Oo, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, responded that the Central Bank of Myanmar is always committed to maintaining currency and exchange rate stability, reducing inflation, improving the payment and settlement system, and ensuring the sound operation of the banking sector. He clearly stated that the Thai Baht can not only be used for trade settlement between the two countries but also supports Thai investment-related businesses in Myanmar.
Both sides also exchanged views on financial cooperation, trade facilitation, banking service optimization, and technical support, and agreed that the Central Bank of Myanmar and the Bank of Thailand would conduct open and constructive coordination and cooperation to further deepen bilateral financial and economic relations.
