Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that Turkey, as Vietnam's core trading partner in the Middle East and a key gateway for Vietnamese goods to reach the Middle East and Southern European markets, has fostered increasingly solid economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Data shows that in 2025, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Turkey reached US$2.28 billion, with Vietnamese exports exceeding US$1.8 billion, demonstrating significant trade complementarity. Investment cooperation has also yielded fruitful results. As of the end of December 2025, Turkey had invested in 49 projects in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of US$1.754 billion, ranking 24th among 146 countries and regions investing in Vietnam, firmly establishing itself as the second largest source of investment in Vietnam from the Middle East and Africa region. Furthermore, Vietnam also has investment in Turkey, with one project already implemented with an investment of US$850,000, demonstrating a two-way development trend in bilateral investment cooperation.
Based on this solid foundation of economic and trade cooperation, the halal sector is becoming a new growth point for Vietnam-Turkey bilateral cooperation. Turkey, with its large Muslim population, is not only a significant global market for halal products but also a leading regional center for halal processing and trade. Meanwhile, Vietnam has been continuously developing its halal industry in recent years, gradually building a stable halal product supply system, and the potential for cooperation between the two countries in this field continues to unfold.
Yunus Eit, Chairman of the World Halal Summit Council, pointed out that the global halal industry is currently experiencing strong growth, with market demand in sub-sectors such as halal food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and halal tourism growing rapidly, providing ample space for bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Turkey. In fact, cooperation between the two countries in the halal sector has already achieved initial success in recent years, laying a solid foundation for further in-depth collaboration.
Faced with the expanding global halal product market, Vietnam has made developing a halal ecosystem one of its national strategic directions. This strategy will not only help Vietnam explore the global Muslim market and broaden its export growth channels but also promote the upgrading of its domestic industries to higher standards and higher quality, enhancing its position in the global value chain. To accelerate the development of the halal industry, the Vietnamese government is intensively introducing a number of supportive policies, including helping enterprises improve production capacity, aligning with international halal quality standards, and improving the halal certification system. Simultaneously, it is actively deepening cooperation with relevant international organizations to open up global market access channels for Vietnamese halal products. In this process, Turkey, with its mature advantages in the halal industry and its market reach, has been identified by Vietnam as a core potential market for halal product exports. The two sides are expected to conduct deeper cooperation in areas such as supply chain synergy, mutual recognition of standards, and market sharing. (End)
