Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – “The rapid growth of the Chinese coffee market is very encouraging. The Ugandan coffee industry is actively embracing this huge opportunity, and we will deepen our cooperation with our Chinese partners to bring more high-quality coffee beans to Chinese consumers,” said Charles Sebataya Muongai, an exhibitor from Uganda, in an interview in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on the 15th.
On the same day, the second stop of the “Sharing a Large Market, Exporting to China” series of events opened in Hangzhou. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, featured two main themed zones: imported goods and premium consumer products, showcasing distinctive imported goods such as Egyptian turquoise jewelry, Ugandan coffee beans, and Indian agarwood.
Upon entering the Ugandan-themed booth, a refreshing aroma of coffee filled the air. Geisha, Shirai, and Yirgacheffe coffee beans, among other premium varieties, were on display.
“Young Chinese consumers are now paying increasing attention to the quality and flavor of coffee,” said Charles Sebataya Muongai. He added that during the exhibition, they had already secured trade orders for 800,000 tons of coffee beans with local Hangzhou traders. While exploring the Chinese market, the Ugandan delegation also signed an $80 million agricultural equipment procurement order on-site.
In addition to global products, the event also showcased Chinese-made smart products such as AI glasses, humanoid robots, and new energy vehicles.
"China's massive market has opened its doors to high-quality Kenyan products, and cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence show us the infinite possibilities for future cooperation," said Lewiston Wahuru, Commercial Counselor of the Kenyan Embassy in China, representing the annual theme country of the "Export to China" series of events. He added that as China accelerates the development of new productive forces, Kenya shares not only a consumer market with China but also new opportunities for transformation and development.
It is understood that the Zhejiang leg of the event lasted three days and is expected to secure import procurement orders worth 30 billion yuan. A relevant official from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce introduced that in 2026, China will hold over 100 "Export to China" series events, inviting countries such as the UK, Kazakhstan, and Thailand to serve as annual theme countries, supporting more high-quality global goods and services to enter Chinese households.
