As the Spring Festival holiday enters its second half, the railway travel rush is gradually entering its peak return travel period, with an estimated 16.8 million passengers transported on February 21st, and 2,052 additional passenger trains planned.
Based on pre-sale data, major departure cities on February 21st include Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Shanghai, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, and Nanjing; major arrival cities include Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Xi'an, and Zhengzhou. Popular routes such as Nanning to Guangzhou, Beijing to Shanghai, Shenyang to Beijing, Wuhan to Shanghai, Wuhan to Shenzhen, Xi'an to Chengdu, and Wuhan to Guangzhou have relatively concentrated passenger flows.
Based on ticket availability, for February 22nd and 23rd, there are ample tickets available for routes including Shanghai to Xuzhou, Hefei, Wenzhou, Zhengzhou, and Changsha; Guangzhou to Nanning and Changsha; Shenzhen to Changsha; and Hangzhou to Fuyang. Tickets are also available for routes including Beijing to Harbin, Zhengzhou, Baotou, and Hohhot; Fuzhou to Beijing; Shanghai to Fuyang and Bozhou; Guangzhou to Guiyang; Xi'an to Lanzhou; and Shenyang to Harbin. For February 24th to March 3rd, there are ample tickets available for round-trip flights between Beijing and Shanghai; Shanghai to Wenzhou and Xuzhou; Changsha to Shenzhen; and Shanghai to Hefei and Wuhan. Tickets are also available for routes including Beijing to Taiyuan and Handan; Fuzhou to Beijing; Shanghai to Fuyang and Shenzhen; Kunming to Chengdu; Hangzhou to Hefei; Shenyang to Harbin; Guiyang to Kunming; and Hefei to Wenzhou.
According to data from the Ministry of Transport, on February 21, the total cross-regional passenger flow in China is estimated to reach 361.13 million person-times, a 2.3% increase compared to the previous day and a 12.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
