According to a recent report released by the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia's fresh banana exports performed exceptionally well in 2025, generating a total revenue of US$178 million. This represents a 16.83% increase compared to US$152 million in 2024, further highlighting bananas' strong foreign exchange earning potential as a core agricultural product of Cambodia.
Ken Finong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, pointed out that the export volume of Cambodian fresh bananas steadily expanded thanks to continued strong international market demand. Total exports reached 343,577 tons in 2025, a significant increase of approximately 30% compared to the same period last year.

Ken Finong stated that Cambodian bananas, with their excellent quality, are increasingly favored in international competition, achieving double-digit growth in export value and further increasing market share.
According to the head of a relevant export trading company, businesses have entered a high-intensity operating mode to cope with the surge in international orders.
China remains Cambodia's largest export destination for bananas, and the Japanese market also shows strong potential. Due to ample export orders, the current supply in the local market is relatively limited.

To date, the total area under fresh banana cultivation in Cambodia has expanded to approximately 16,000 hectares, with about 5,000 hectares currently harvestable. These are mainly located in Ratanakiri, Kratie, Stung Treng, Kampot, Kampong Cham, and Kampong Speu provinces.
With further expansion of planting areas and advancements in agricultural technology, Cambodia's banana industry is expected to continue its growth, making a greater contribution to the country's rural economy and export diversification.
