Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Vietnam Railways Corporation (VRC) held a completion ceremony on the 19th for its "Modernization of Passenger Carriages in the National Railway System" project. A total of 162 carriages underwent comprehensive upgrades, with a total investment exceeding 60 billion VND (approximately 16.216 million RMB). On the same day, the company also launched a digital transformation project and a green transformation project.

These are three major projects launched and completed nationwide as part of the railway industry's efforts to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Vietnam Railways General Director Hoang Gia Khanh stated that after approximately three months of renovations, the 162 advanced carriages will be put into operation before the Lunar New Year in 2026. This will not only improve service quality and enhance the passenger experience but also improve the safety and stability of train operations and reduce subsequent maintenance costs.

Following the completion ceremony, the SE5 (Hanoi) and SE6 (Saigon) trains officially began service, serving passengers on the unified railway line. The advanced carriages will be deployed on trains SE1/2, SE3/4, SE7/8, and SE19/20 to provide timely service to passengers during the peak travel season of the 2026 Lunar New Year.

The digital transformation projects launched that day include the application of AI technology in chatbots and voice chat for customer service; the green transformation projects involve the trial use of B5 biodiesel on D12E locomotives (Hanoi-Haiphong line). (End)
