Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as "Meilan Airport"), in conjunction with the Meilan Immigration Inspection Station (hereinafter referred to as "Meilan Border Inspection") and Haikou Meilan Airport Customs (hereinafter referred to as "Airport Customs"), will launch the "Qiong-Hong Kong Link" cross-airline transfer service on the same day, providing a more convenient and smoother travel experience for transit passengers originating from Hong Kong who have not completed through check-in procedures.
Previously, when transiting through Haikou, if the preceding and following flights were operated by different airlines, passengers often had to collect their checked baggage upon arrival at the transit point and then re-check in, a cumbersome and time-consuming process.
According to reports, after the launch of the "Qiong-Hong Kong Link" cross-airline transfer service at Meilan Airport, passengers flying from Hong Kong to Haikou will have their checked baggage handled by Meilan Airport for transit, even if their next leg of the journey involves a different airline, eliminating the need for passengers to collect it themselves. Passengers only need to obtain their boarding passes for their connecting flights at the transfer check-in counter, then complete the relevant verification procedures in the transfer hall before proceeding directly to their next boarding gate, achieving "hands-free, smooth transfer."
Meilan Airport's "Qiong-Hong Kong Connect" cross-airline transfer service breaks the previous limitation that passengers had to fly with the same airline to enjoy the convenience of through transfers. It effectively solves the pain points of baggage transfer for passengers with non-through transfers, further improving transfer clearance efficiency and passenger travel experience.
Meilan Airport stated that currently, the "Qiong-Hong Kong Connect" cross-airline transfer service is applicable to passengers departing from Hong Kong International Airport, transferring via Haikou Meilan International Airport, and connecting to Hainan Airlines or China Southern Airlines domestic/international flights, or transferring to other airlines' international flights.
