Recently, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs released the "Report on the Achievements of the 2024-2025 China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges." Among the achievements, the "3rd China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Finals," hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and specifically organized by the Guangxi Science and Technology Department, was listed as an important achievement.
A relevant official from the Guangxi Science and Technology Department introduced that in recent years, the region has continuously expanded the breadth and depth of its science and technology cultural exchanges with ASEAN by hosting high-level intergovernmental science and technology exchange brand activities. It has cumulatively trained more than 1,400 science and technology management officials and technical personnel from ASEAN countries, covering fields such as artificial intelligence, modern agriculture, ethnic medicine, marine biology, sustainable development, animal diseases, and technical standards. Through hosting the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, it has promoted exchanges and interactions between China and ASEAN countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative in innovative elements such as scientific and technological achievements, financial capital, talent teams, and information data. Through implementing the "ASEAN Outstanding Young Scientists" project, it has strengthened the "bond" for exchange and cooperation among young scientific and technological talents.
Currently, Guangxi is accelerating the construction of the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Innovation Cooperation Center, continuously carrying out joint research on "AI+" for ASEAN; jointly promoting the construction of joint artificial intelligence laboratories with ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Laos; deepening the construction of the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Open Source Alliance; and promoting the collection and cross-border bidding for artificial intelligence science and technology innovation cooperation needs in ASEAN.
A relevant official from the Guangxi Science and Technology Department stated that, going forward, the department will continue to collaborate with ASEAN countries to create a science and technology cultural exchange model integrating "exchange visits + short- and medium-term training + joint training + innovation and entrepreneurship," accelerating the development of a high ground for international cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) oriented towards ASEAN. Guangxi will also continue to implement the "AI+" industry talent training program for ASEAN, establishing a long-term mechanism for industry talent exchange and cooperation in the field of AI between China and ASEAN, and promoting the alignment of Chinese AI enterprises with the market demands of ASEAN countries.
