Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Within the framework of the official visit to the UK by a high-level Vietnamese delegation led by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife, Nguyen Hoang Long, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, held bilateral talks with Chris McDonald, Minister of State for Industry at the UK Department for Business and Trade.
According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in London, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Vietnam-UK Clean Energy Cooperation with the UK Foreign Office and a MOU on Vietnam-UK Product Safety with the UK Department for Business and Trade.
The signing of the MOU on Vietnam-UK Clean Energy Cooperation aims to establish a framework for clean energy cooperation between the two countries. It is an important step in elevating the level of bilateral strategic cooperation, aligning with both countries' goals of achieving net-zero emissions and sustainable growth. It also lays the foundation for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Green Finance Cooperation between the two countries.
Through this document, both sides will consolidate and expand the clean energy cooperation framework, including expanding the scale of renewable energy; strengthening grid infrastructure and transmission capacity; mobilizing public and private funds to support the green transition; improving the legal framework for promoting clean energy investment; and promoting innovation and technology exchange to ensure sustainable green growth in the future.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Product Safety reflects the shared desire of both sides to strengthen trade cooperation. It aims to promote the development of bilateral trade markets through cooperation in preventing unsafe products and goods; support the enhancement of knowledge and awareness regarding the prevention of unsafe products and goods; and strengthen the exchange of experience in the development, management, and operation of e-commerce platforms.
The signing of these two Memoranda of Understanding will help effectively implement the existing cooperation framework and concretize the joint statement on enhancing the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, generating positive effects and contributing to the economic development of both nations.
Following the signing ceremony, Nguyen Hoang Long and Chris McDonald exchanged views on the active bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities in the energy trade sector.
After the bilateral meeting, Nguyen Hoang Long attended and addressed a reception hosted by the UK Department for Business and Trade and chaired by Matt Weiss, the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy. At the reception, Nguyen Hoang Long reviewed the achievements of cooperation between the two countries in recent years and proposed future directions and prospects for cooperation. (End)
