  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The General Department of Customs of Bokeo Province, Laos, recently held its annual review meeting to report on the achievements of customs duty collection and financial regulations implementation in 2025, and to clarify the work plan and priorities for 2026, aiming to support national development goals through strengthened management and deepened reforms.

  The meeting was chaired by Phukham Vannavongxay, Director General of the General Department of Customs of the Ministry of Finance of Laos. Leaders from various district governments of Bokeo Province, representatives from the three major vertical industries, heads of international customs inspection stations, and relevant officials attended the meeting. At the meeting, Bounang Panthavong, Director General of the General Department of Customs of Bokeo Province, gave a detailed report on the customs organizational structure, professional operations, and tax collection and management.

  Data shows that the customs revenue target for Bokeo Province in 2025 was 648.7 billion kip (an increase of 227.7 billion kip from 2024, representing a growth rate of 54.09%). The actual revenue reached 603.21 billion kip, achieving 92.99% of the target, a year-on-year increase of 7.98% (approximately 44.56 billion kip). Revenue mainly came from tariffs and warehousing fees on fuel, vehicles, consumer goods, and building materials. In 2025, the customs also strengthened its crackdown on illegal imports and vehicle misuse within the province (including special economic zones), ensuring the effective implementation of customs regulations and the full collection of taxes due.

  The meeting also reviewed the challenges facing the work in 2025 and clarified the core work directions for 2026: first, strengthening port inspection and enforcement; second, deepening cross-departmental collaboration; third, improving the professional capabilities of staff; and fourth, promoting the application of digital customs business systems to improve tax collection efficiency through the modernization of administrative processes.

  In addition, Soochai Inthavong, Director of the Personnel and Administration Department of the General Department of Customs of the Ministry of Finance, announced the 2025 Outstanding Employee Recognition Decision at the meeting. Phukham Vannavongsay presented awards to those with outstanding performance and outlined requirements for future work, emphasizing the importance of discipline, transparency, and professionalism. He stated that strictly enforcing customs regulations and successfully achieving tax revenue targets are key measures to support the socio-economic development of Laos.

  The Bokeo Provincial Customs stated that in 2026, it will continue to solidify its work achievements through measures such as strengthening compliance management, promoting digital transformation, and steadily increasing tax revenue, providing strong support for local economic growth, trade facilitation, and the standardized operation of the customs system.
