  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On March 30th, the first session of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (2026-2031 term) officially convened. Tran Lu Quang, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and 125 newly elected delegates to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council attended the meeting.

  This meeting was of great significance, marking Ho Chi Minh City's entry into a new term and a new stage of development with higher standards and high expectations from all sectors.

  Following legal procedures, the meeting elected relevant positions within the scope of the People's Council's authority, successfully completing the election for the 2026-2031 term of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and People's Committee.

  Following a vote, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council elected Nguyen Van Thu, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, as Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2026-2031 term with 98.37% of the votes in favor; and elected Vu Van Minh, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and former Chairman of the City People's Council, as re-elected Chairman of the City People's Council with 100% of the votes in favor.

  Tran Lu Quang, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, delivered a guiding speech at the meeting. He pointed out that this meeting was an important turning point in the development of Ho Chi Minh City, laying the foundation for the work of the new term.

  Looking towards the new stage of development, Tran Lu Quang emphasized that the City People's Council should continue to carry forward its fine traditions, innovate its working methods, improve the quality of resolution formulation and oversight, and promote the rapid and sustainable development of the city with pragmatic and effective measures, living up to the trust and expectations of the city's Party organizations, government, and people.
