This news was officially announced on January 26 at a press conference for the "Spring of Unity – Warm Lunar New Year" activities in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse.
Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, stated that this year's heartwarming Lunar New Year activities, spearheaded by the committee and its member units, have further expanded in terms of quality and scope, aiming to carry forward the fine traditions of unity, mutual assistance, and love, ensuring that no one is left behind during the traditional Lunar New Year and allowing all citizens to share in the joy of the New Year.
Among these activities, the "Spring of Unity – Warm Lunar New Year" event, a key component of this series of Lunar New Year activities, will be held simultaneously in 168 residential areas throughout the city, and is expected to attract over 200,000 participants. The activities are diverse and tailored to people's livelihoods, encompassing the decoration of "Spring Festival street corners," making rice dumplings (sticky rice dumplings), spring flower shows, cultural performances, heartwarming reunion dinners, tree planting, and environmental protection. These activities not only create a strong festive atmosphere but also enrich the cultural life of citizens during the holiday.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City will simultaneously hold a "Spring Festival Street Corner – 2026 Year of the Horse Spring Festival" competition, using the event as a vehicle to promote the spirit of unity, strive to create a green, clean, and beautiful Spring Festival environment, and further inherit and showcase the beauty of national traditional culture. It is reported that during the Year of the Horse Spring Festival, the city expects to decorate approximately 10,000 "Spring Festival street corners," allowing the festive atmosphere to permeate every corner of the city.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City revealed that during the Year of the Horse Spring Festival, the unit will provide special funding support for the "Spring Warm House" project, focusing on the construction and renovation of 137 "Great Unity Houses" for impoverished people in the city, effectively improving the living conditions of disadvantaged groups and allowing them to celebrate the Spring Festival warmly.
At the press conference, representatives from various member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City announced their plans for heartwarming Lunar New Year activities for their members, staff, and the general public. In addition to the usual heartwarming activities such as distributing Lunar New Year gifts to members, veterans, and local residents, cultural exchanges, Lunar New Year reunion dinners, and free transportation tickets, the organizations will also visit and extend greetings to armed forces officers and soldiers in border areas, organize Lunar New Year reunion dinners for members and young people unable to return home for the holiday, hold "one village, one product" exhibitions and sales, and provide services such as distributing gifts and free medical care to people in maritime border areas, conveying Lunar New Year warmth in all aspects.
