  In 2025, with the goal of serving and safeguarding the sustainable and healthy development of fisheries, the China Coast Guard, in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, carried out a special enforcement operation during the summer fishing moratorium, strictly organizing law enforcement and supervision of fisheries outside the prohibited bottom trawl fishing areas, effectively maintaining the safety and order of marine fisheries production, and strongly guaranteeing the high-quality development of the national marine economy.

  On the same day, the China Coast Guard released several typical cases. On July 8, 2025, the Yancheng Coast Guard Bureau in Jiangsu Province seized two fishing vessels engaged in illegal fishing during a maritime patrol. Investigation revealed that from March to July 2025, the group used prohibited fishing gear to catch a total of 163.3 tons of various types of fish in China.

  On July 5, 2025, the Hainan Qionghai Coast Guard Bureau, during a special enforcement operation related to the summer fishing moratorium, intercepted a Vietnamese fishing vessel suspected of illegal fishing near Dazhou Island, Wanning City. The vessel had 13 crew members on board. Investigation revealed that the vessel violated China's summer fishing moratorium regulations by entering Chinese-administered waters without permission and using prohibited fishing gear with mesh sizes smaller than the minimum required size.

  It is reported that in 2025, the China Coast Guard Bureau cracked down on illegal and criminal activities that infringe upon the interests of the public and endanger maritime safety, efficiently carried out maritime rescue operations, and made every effort to safeguard the lives and property of the public. Throughout the year, it investigated over 1,900 cases of various public order violations, conducted over 2,200 rescue operations, and rescued over 1,700 people in distress. (End)
