  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Philippine Department of Health (DOH) announced on July 1 that, amid an increase in dengue fever cases during the rainy season, the number of dengue fever deaths in the Philippines from January 1 to June 15 was 205.

  The Philippine Department of Health warned of a slight increase in dengue fever cases. From January 1 to June 15, a total of 77,867 dengue fever cases were confirmed nationwide, a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

  Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa called for action to prevent the outbreak, emphasizing the crucial task of identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds for local authorities.

  On May 29, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (GAGA) declared the start of the rainy season in the country.

  Dengue fever is prevalent in the Philippines. Waterborne diseases, including dengue fever, often peak at the start of the rainy season due to changing weather conditions, flooding, and water pollution. (End)
